In 1927, the US Army Air Corps developed the A-1 Flight Jacket. Made of leather, it became quite popular with pilots due to its comfort and stylish look. Made of leather, it was durable, warm, and made the pilot look great.
 
In 1931, the improved A-2 was developed. Featuring a zipper closure and improved collar, cuffs, and waist, this became standard issue for pilots during World War 2 (along with other types as well). The leather used was either horsehide or goatskin.
 
The A-2 has been in production to some extent (with a brief stop from 1979 to 1981).
 
This particular example, I believe, was made in the 1970s ( I could not find a date, but the condition of the jacket points to that).
It features two waist pockets, a zipper closure, cotton cuffs, and cotton lining.
 
The size says 46, but I normally wear a size 38, and it fits me just a little big. I would say if you wear a size 38-40, this should fit you.
The overall condition is great! Some signs of wear, and the leather does show creases, but this jacket will still last plenty of years.
 
My wife wanted me to keep it, but I couldn't gatekeep such a nice leather jacket from you guys.
